Why Recital 87 Matters for GDPR Compliance?
Recital 87 is essential for GDPR compliance because it reinforces the importance of prompt detection, assessment, and reporting of personal data breaches. It highlights that organizations must have effective technical and organizational measures in place to quickly identify breaches and determine their impact on individuals. The recital also stresses that delays in reporting can increase risks to data subjects, making timely action a key requirement. By focusing on immediacy and proper evaluation of breach severity, Recital 87 supports the broader GDPR framework for accountability and risk management. It encourages organizations to implement monitoring systems, incident response plans, and internal processes that ensure breaches are handled efficiently and without unnecessary delay.
